When we adopted our older rescue corgi, he had dental issues plaque, gingivitis, and gum disease (yes, dogs get them too). Our vet said dental health is the single largest predictor of how long a pet will live, and judging by the teeth, we had adopted a dog that didn't have many more years under his belt. He recommended brushing the dog's teeth and adding this expensive liquid to his water. We did as directed (difficult though the brushing was) and came back expecting to hear how things had improved. He had very little improvement and I was really upset. I went to the pet store and tried out all of the pet dental items they had different shape or forms of brushes, green dog treats, wipes for the teeth, etc. During this trip, I found and purchased my first Omega Paw rings. I was pretty dubious because my dog did not like to chew on things, but I was desperate.

He loved the ringschewing and gnawing on them, and if I didn't take it away soon enough, shredding the paper into bits everywhere. There was an immediate improvement in his breath. I abandoned the other items except the occasional tooth brushing. We started using 2 rings per week. At the next check up, the vet could not stop talking about the improvement in our boy's teeth and praised us, saying we'd added years to his life.

Well, fast forward a few more years and our old guy is no longer with us (although he did live long enough to turn white on his face!) but we have since adopted another rescue corgi. The new guy's teeth were in great shape so stupidly, I was lax with the brushing. After about a year, I noticed his breath was getting a little bad and went on a search for the dental rings. I couldn't find them in any store or online. Finally, I wrote to the company and told them I needed the rings and to please tell me they hadn't discontinued them. I was told the old ones were no longer available, but the new formula was set to come out soon.

When they finally came out, I was pleased to find that they were just as effective as the old kind, and less messy. I would put up with any level of mess to provide my dog with a long and healthy life, but this was an improvement. I am stocked up with these at all times and sing their praises to my friends and my vet. Handing your dog a chew toy is a lot easier than holding them down and trying to brush their teeth, and when it comes with even better results, I couldn't be happier. I simply cannot recommend this product enough.

Large ring of cardboard with something equivalent to hardened toothpaste on it. Dog eats cardboard and ignores toothpaste part. Instructions say if any pieces come off to dispose of them and the ring. That happens IMMEDIATELY. It's CARDBOARD for ****'s sake!!! Useless. Waste of $$. Will never buy this or any other product by this co. again.

I have had these a while. I got the small dog ones but still too large for my chi. She cannot even begin to chew it. My 12lb dog can but boy is it messy. Gets little pieces of paper all over my rug. Don't like that but if dental part was on something else maybe it would have worked better for my little dogs. Oh and I have 2 left if that says anything about how I like them.

When I had my first dog 17 years ago, dental rings were available at pet stores. She loved to tear them apart, and they kept her teeth immaculately clean, even those that were broken off at funny angles. My second dog did not like the dental rings and we always had trouble keeping his teeth clean. Fortunately, my third dog also likes them and is doing well. Don't see dental rings in pet stores anymore, but I am glad I can order them on-line.

One dental ring per week seems enough.
