It is SO wrong when we trust a company to be what they say they are and they turn out to be something else. People need to know what is really in their pet's food. People also need to know if the makers of the food are trustworthy. It is so important to do your research.
What is really in their food:
Thousands of Maggots
Finally after numerous complaints a village health official visited the plant first in 2006 and was shocked to find the place was littered with "open containers of chicken, flies, maggots, refuse and unsanitary conditions" on the property. When she inspected the grease interceptors, they were "heavily full of grease and there were maggots inside". Disgusted, she also couldn't help but notice "a strong rotting meat smell".
Following more complaints, the same health official visited the Evanger's plant again in 2007, when she observed: "thousands of maggots on rotten decaying animal parts; flies all over the property and open and exposed rotting animal parts; flies and maggots over unknown rotting substances".
This was reported in 2010 in the Chicago Tribune:
Joel Sher, owner of Evanger's Dog & Cat Food Co., was booked into county jail and charged with attempting to bribe a witness in a case where Sher had been accused of stealing over $2 million worth of gas and power lines to his company, Evanger's Dog & Cat Food Co.
Sher allegedly offered $5,000 to a witness in exchange for changing testimony in the case stemming from 2010 (which is still pending), when Sher ordered employees to use jack hammers to dig through concrete and asphalt and divert gas lines, even supplying them with a tool to help roll back gas meters, as part of an elaborate system in which gas flow was diverted to the pet food plant before it ever reached the meter.
There is SO MUCH more. Just google "Udate on FDA's Warning Evanger's" or "Evanger's Joins the Party". It is endless.
The daughter and son of the owners of Evanger's just started their own line of food "Against the Grain". They claim "we have learned so much from our parents", as if that is a good thing???
Do your research and decide for youself. Then tell everyone you know.

This is a great product for supplemental feeding and treat making! I like that it has very few ingredients (rabbit, water sufficient for processing, liver, guar gum) however it is a bit on the fatty side so it should be used sparingly. I will use one can as a treat to split between my three dogs and two catsall of who seem to enjoy it very much. Due to the fatty content my dogs coats have become glossier over the past couple of weeks (and they look great!).I have been adding small chunks of sweet potato, apple or other yummy bits in and rolling into treat balls that I freeze. I will also use it to seal off kongs, bleached bones, or other kibble holding dispensers. Freezing makes it a little tougher for my chow-hounds to devour too quickly!

Our ferret loves this rabbit; it's a nice high protein treat in addition to his regular Evo ferret diet. The price was reasonable compared to our local pet store, which doesn't often have this item in stock.Read Best Reviews of Evanger's Grain-Free Rabbit Canned Food Here
