I have a dog, and no matter what I did to try to prevent it, my house would become infested with fleas. I didn't want to give him too much in the way of strong chemicals, but I did use Advantage and similar products, which helped but didn't prevent eventual infestation, especially during rainy times of the year. I bathed him regularly, flea-combed him, used diatomiceous earth on him, didn't matter. Sooner or later, the carpets would be jumping.

My vet sold me a can of this. I vacuumed the carpets, sprayed it on the carpets throughout the house and on furniture where the dog lies, and left the house for a few hours. When I came back, I vacuumed again. Within twenty-four hours, the fleas were gone, and they didn't come back for months.

The product uses a hormone that supposedly interferes with flea reproduction without harming pets or people. It definitely works, and I've seen no problems with my dog. It supposedly lasts four months, but I use it about once a year. I've also tried Knockout E.S., which contains more insecticide (pyrethrin and permethrin) to kill existing fleas, as well as the hormone, and is designed to last seven months instead of four. It works as well, but I'm not sure whether or not it lasts significantly longer, and therefore is worth the higher price.

In Florida fleas can be a problem year-round. Knockout spray works well, leaves no mess, has not harmed the carpet and furniture I've used it on/around and dries quickly.

I was given this spray by the Vet and I was charged $27 for it a couple of years ago! It did a great job along with the Frontline. It really erradicated the flea population..for awhile..

Jump to 2 years later and fleas are back..my cats are indoor cats so fleas must just hop in or sometimes other people with infestations have them on their clothes and then come over your house.. So I used Frontline again. This time it didn't even work. Thank goodness I had some Knockout spray left. I sprayed it all around and the fleas were mostly killed. I have notice a few adult fleas left on the cats and I'm going to use Advantage. It seems either the fleas are immune to Frontline now, OR Frontline is using cheaper ingredients and changed their formula to save money. If Advantage doesn't work, I'll use Knockout and flea tablets.

I only give it 4 stars because Knockout does not kill eggs.
