They don't say it's loud for nothing. I used it for scary noises last night with the trick or treaters. Pretty good results there.
I have a lab who wouldn't give anything but a stick for the time of day, but my yap-yap shih tzu is one of those rat dogs that love thinking they are breaking the neck of some rodent when they take on a squeaky toy.
Opened up the package and squeezed the chicken (no pun) and the noise that came out was crazy--piercing and lasting for ever. Got both my dogs attention. Squeezed again and dropped it on the floor. No takers from the doggies. Then about 5 minutes later, I hear this ungodly squeaking. My Taffy poochy lap dog has dragged this thing into the living room and is going at it like it's alive. She's trying to figure out how to ring its neck but going at it very cautiously. We all thought it quite humorous.
Just remember--this is loud.
My husband says it's genius. I say it's loud, but a lot of fun. Well worth the 15 bucks or so. Would make a Xmas gift that everyone will talk about.

My 2 dachshunds loved this squeaky toy, until our girl went straight for the throat...the squeaker isn't punctured, but the soft outer rubber is. Both dogs loved the sound and carrying this toy around and shaking it as hard as they could! An interesting toy that will keep your dog entertained for hours (or at least until he/she learns how to de-squeak it).At first he was scared of the noise ;) although he would run back promptly verrry curious, now he's carrying it all over the house, and even after chewing a toe off it still squawks (tho a much shorter squawk)! I will say our 12lb chihuahua/dachshund loves toys, and rips most of them to shreds given enough time (better toys than our house!). This Squawkie Talkie dog toy is GREAT! My Welsh Terrier has loved it and has not managed to ruin the Squawkie ! Very well made and durable.
