I've been on auto-delivery for this product for probably 2 years. My 3 senior rescued dogs are practically toothless and cannot chew anything. I searched endlessly for crunchy, but not hard, treats that were well formulated and could be broken up easily so they might have less trouble digesting them. I was thrilled when I found these treats. I'm always shocked when a company thinks they can change a product and no one will notice. The last few shipments have been nothing like the treats I received in the past. In all fairness, to this company, I did give them a chance since I knew something wrong I figured they would "fix" it. The most recent shipment proved me wrong. The company took a perfectly wonderful product and ruined it. The crunchy treats are now hard as rock and almost virtually unbreakable. My husband has large, strong hands and he has trouble breaking them into edible bites. They are now so very dry and hard almost as if they left out all the moisture. I'm fairly certain they've eliminated some of the previous ingredients to increase their "bottom line". Sadly, I am cancelling my auto-delivery of this product. For anyone who is looking for a new treat for their "best friend" who can no longer chew, I highly recommend Science Diet Ideal Balance Veggie Chips (pumpkin & yam). They are well formulated, easily broken and have a crispy but not hard texture. My 3 dogs love them. If Amazon would offer them at a reasonable price, I would go on auto-delivery for them, but my local pet store had them for $3 less than the Amazon offering.

I supposed as a treat, this would do better than its dog food. But I was wrong when I received and tried it today. My dog does not like it at all. This treat feels like cookies and very dry. I got a small dog (Yorkshire). I don't know if big dog will find it delicious or not. Just my own experience.i'm kinda new to amazon (only ordered books in the past)...and just set up the automatic service on this item for the best value! SO worth it!! you can't beat the price (seriously folks, the name brand pet stores sell this at more than double the price)!! i love newman's own organics, and more importantly...so does my little, four-legged girl.It isn't easy to find packaged food for pets that I can trust. I have been doing a lot of reading lately about what actually goes into most commercial brand pet foods, and I am appalled. I decided to start cooking for my brood, but the puppy was going bonkers for bicuits, which was kind of freaking me out. I never thought I'd find something on the store shelves that satisfied us both...and then, in a WalMart in Honesdale PA (where my family owns a vacation home) I saw these. I trust Newman's Own, so I read the ingredients. I was happy, and my dog loves them, but I couldn't seem to find them back home in NJ, so I searched Amazon, and here they were. I am slated to get a case every other month, but I might need to up that to once a month!This is very dry and brittle. My dog started coughing as soon as he ate it the first time so I am not giving him any more. Very disappointed since I like the Newman's Own Organic dog food a lot.
