I have been using Holistic Select for several years, after adopting a corgi mix that had a sensitive stomach. I switched both my dogs from Wellness to Holistic Select at the recommendation of a local dog food store. My only requirement was something was grown and manufactured in the US and would be good for my corgi mixes stomach (my pitbull/lab will eat anything). At that time I wasn't using their "Senior" food, but once my lab mix turned 10, my vet recommended I switch. The switch was amazing. They both lost a ton of weight pretty quickly. My vet was amazed and actually a bit concerned that it came off that easily on my more senior lab mix. After some tests it was determined she is 100% healthy and the switch to the Senior Holistic Select was the reason.

I started using Holistic Select when I got an English Mastiff puppy because it was well recommended by a number of breeders. Georgia, the puppy, did so well on their food I decided, two years ago, to try the Senior food for our elderly Golden Retriever. Soccer had been on Purina Dog Chow all his life. He was really starting to act and show his age. He was overweight, slowing down, and getting gimpy from laying around too much. What a difference!! Now he is much more trim, playful again, and actually runs around the yard at 13!! The only difference has been the change in food so I give Holistic Select complete credit for this remarkable transformation. I discovered that I could buy Holistic Select products from Amazon about a year ago. Their price is a few bucks cheaper than the pet stores where I was buying and delivery is free! Since I live in a rural county, this saves me driving to "the big city" to get their dog food. Having it delivered makes my life much easier!!

Seems like it is a good quality food and the company is very helpful if you have questions about nutrition facts like sodium levels, but I was disappointed with my purchase. I have a senior Shetland Sheepdog and aside from not liking it, the food made him terribly sick. Unlike most shelties, he has an iron stomach, so I'm very surprised that it made him sick. I don't know if the bag of food I received was defective or it is actually the food. We tried for 4 days and have since thrown away the rest of the bag. He also had a hard time with the kibble size. They are fairly large. I ended up having to presoak the kibbles so he could eat them, which may have contributed to his diarrhea. We switched back to Nutro Ultra Holistic.
