Do not be deceived: these are not a substitute for Vitamin C supplementation for guinea pigs! I am a veterinarian, and have seen several guinea pigs die of scurvy because their well-meaning owners thought these treats provided actual nutrition. These treats have 300 mg vitamin C per kg of treats, and guinea pigs need 25 mg of vitamin C per day. This means a guinea pig would need to eat 1/2 the entire bag every day to get what they need! Very deceptive and dangerous advertising. Your guinea pig should be eating lots of dark leafy vegetables, as well as actual vitamin C supplement. My guinea pig loves treats, especially fresh fruit. Since these treats are orange flavored I thought my guinea pig would love them. He won't touch them though. He simply pushes them around in his food bowl and knocks them into the cage bedding. I gave these to my neighbor who has a female guinea pig in hopes that she would eat them.
