I was feeding my three dogs Canidae dry food from the pet food store and decided to try canned food one day, knowing that my 13-year-old pug might enjoy the change. All three of my dogs liked the food, and I felt good knowing that it's American made and is nutritionally balanced. I also have a cleaner kitchen floor because my dogs spill the dry food on the floor from their dishes many times. Canned food means less waste.
It's great to be able to purchase the dog food online because of the convenience of scheduling and handling. I'd definitely recommend Canidae's canned dog food for overweight, older dogs. Besides my pug, I have a Lhasa Apso/Cairn Terrier mix, and a Brussels Griffon who all love the food.

I recieved the package a day after ordering it and it said it was going to be delivered after a week. My dog is crazii for this food and i'm happy this food is heathly and keeping my old beagle looking and acting younger. Since i bought the food every morning she will get hyper and run around for me to give her a can. The good thing is that if you snack your dog at night like with a hotdog! You will only need one can! it holds her full till the night time and i just feed her the snack shes crazzi for. I recommend this to anyone. I'm so impressed and its cheap 2! It last atleast 12 days and its cheaper than a 24 pack of pediagree that you have to feed your dog like 3 cans a day so they can get the protein Canidae has to offer. This company's ingredients are wholly made in the USA. I contacted them about using it for my dog with kidney disease as he had stopped eating the vet's prescribed kidney food. A vet emailed right away stating that their phosphate level was a little over the maximum allowed for kidney disease but it was lower than most that they were aware of. In the can, it looked exactly like the vet's kidney diet. While we unfortunately lost our ACD (we got him with kidney disease-KD at 8 years old), we all gave a valiant effort but lost our battle and I believe that feeding him Canidae platinum before we were aware of his KD helped lengthened his life. His 11 year old sister (litter mate) had been on Canidae long before we got him and I am well aware it isn't a substitute for kidney diet but the sister and her new ACD playmate are without kidney disease (I now am getting a kidney panel as regularly as I can for them which is way cheaper than ending up with KD).I bought this because I wanted a high quality dog food that got great reviews from http://www.dogfoodadvisor.com/My girl's a senior and a bit overweight. She hasn't really lost anything, BUT she hasn't gained anything, either, so I'll consider that a victory, since she's been steadily gaining for awhile and her weight has now plateaued.
Her coat is shinier than I ever remember it being and her eyes are clear and shiny too. She seems more energetic and lively and her waste is nice and brown and full, no Hershey squirts like with the other foods I was giving her.
It's given me peace of mind. I'll buy only this food for her from now on.I went through six dog foods from store-brands to natural until finding Canidae. This brand was recommended to me on an online German Shepherd Dog forum. Dozens of people loved it. My girl has a sensitive stomach, so I mix a large table spoon of the wet food into 2 cups of dry in the morning and at night. Any more of the wet food and her stomach reacts, but she loves the taste of the canned mixed with the bits. This online price (if you have Amazon Prime) is less expensive than going to the grain store, which is the only place I can find this brand. It equals out considering time spent + gas. For me, one can lasts 2 days, so it's a killer deal. Overall, great natural food for a sensitive breed of dog.
