We adopted our miniature Schnauzer in February 2012. His foster family had been cooking for him, so he just did not like dry dog food (we tried all of the recommended brands). We discovered Sojos in November 2012, so he has been eating it for almost 3 months now. He LOVES it, and gets so excited at meal times. He gobbles it down in seconds flat, which is great. He was doing so well with it, but a few weeks ago, I noticed that he seemed absolutely RAVENOUS all the time. Even after gobbling down his food, he'd lick his bowl for a long time after, and still appear to be hungry. He seemed extra hungry throughout the day, too. I finally ended up mixing the Sojos with another high-quality dry dog food, and now he's happy AND satisfied. I just wish I didn't feel the need to supplement, because the Sojos is pretty expensive alone. But if it makes my dog so happy, I'll continue, at least for now. But there are a few things I am not too crazy about:

1. The Sojos seems a little light on meat content, although it's difficult to tell. Because it's freeze dried, it's hard to tell what's what. It almost resembles Stove Top stuffing before you cook it. The carrots stand out, but other than that, it's hard to tell exactly what's meat and what's not (I suppose if I examined it closely and took the time to sort through it and make sure each bowl had enough meat, but...no thanks! :)

2. Because it's hard to tell 'what's what', I can't be sure I'm giving him a balanced meal each time. The bag does say to shake to combine ingredients, but you still can't be sure it's being combined in the right proportions. For example, when I scoop it out and add water to prepare it, I'm not sure what the ratio of meat to veggies is. My guess is that my dog was hungry because on some days, he was probably getting little or no meat. Mixing in the dry food helps, but again...when you pay so much for food, you shouldn't have to supplement. I wish there was a way to ensure you were getting the right balance.

My small dog loves his new food! Due to allergies, he only eats raw food. This is by far the best and easiest food, preparation wise, that I've purchased thus far. He devours every morsel, however, I do recommend mixing it with another food in order to prevent weight loss or increasing portion sizes. At first, Ewee (he looks like an Ewok) lost a considerable amount of weight on this food, so I had to increase his portions to compensate. Other than that I think it's a great, healthy product! Oh yeah, and it lasts for at least a month.

I fed this to my 2 standard poodles who both lived to be 15 years old. I have been feeding it to our 3 years old standards for 2 years. Tried all manner of dry foods mostly high-end and they were both fat (same with my other 2). Within a few months of Sojo's they are optimal weight. They have no grain, allergy, skin issues. So I stretch the Sojo's with this recipe.

I use a sterlite juice container (blue top green spout opening) with a handle (from Walmart) it's easy to mix in and easy to dip from. I mix 5 cups of Sojo's, 2 cups out of the box oatmeal and 2 cups rice (white or brown cooked with beef broth and water). Add approx. 10 cups of water (I just fill the container to the top) stir. This mixture lasts my 70 pound poodles 2 1/2 days. They get 2 cups each morn. & evening. I make a large pot of rice with one carboard container of beef broth and water and freeze it in 2 cup containers. I keep 3 containers of rice in frig ready to go so mixing food is a 5 minute job. Our Publix has the broth buy on get one free quite often so I stock-up. Walmart seems to have the best price on oatmeal and rice. I buy rice in 25 lb. bags. Hope this was helpfull.

I have fed my dogs various Sojo's products in the past from the veggie mix to the dehydrated turkey and the treats. The beef is just another flavor which my dogs love. It is great whey we are "on the road" to be able to hydrate and feed a raw diet.

I use hot water from my tea kettle to make the bowl of food; the longer it sits, the more water it absorbs. You do need to make sure the food hydrates for 15 minutes before feeding. Once it's ready, I mix in a little hard kibble, to help with teeth cleaning. Every dog is different, but mine likes this food and it's super easy to pack (and light) if you're going hiking/camping.
