I have two German Shorthair Pointers. The first I fed Orijen food to and always was impressed with his thick, soft, shiny coat. But I have to say that he didn't have a yummy desire to eat Orijen so I switched to another, what I believe is high quality, dog food that he does love. Then I got my second GSP and have been feeding him the same "other" food. Over time I was less and less impressed with their coats and they sure did poop fluffy soft poops, too often. The fluffy soft poop and high frequency moved me back to the OriJen.
Bottom line is that feeding the OriJen food is obviously different. I see and feel that my dogs coats are thick, soft and shiny again. Poops are dark, lean and a more normal frequency. A lot of the enjoyment of having dogs is to marvel at their beauty so if OriJen is affordable for you I would recommend it.
The reason I don't identify the "other" food I was feeding is because every dog is likely different and I believe it was good food. It gets high ratings, good ingredients, and isn't cheap either. However, Orijen is clearly better for my dogs by a great measure and only a small percentage higher in price.

how good is this dog food? Well, lets just say that my dog Odette, a Havanese, had to struggle with my 4 year old daughter Earline, to get his share!!I had been feeding Odette with this great puppy food when one day I noticed that the bowl was not in its regular place, behind the rocker. I also noticed that Odette was acting crancky, which I did not recognize at time as symptom of hunger. Well, I began to search for the bowl, which I had filled that morning, and , low and behold, I found Earline scooping the scrumptious stuff into her mouth with a plastic spoon. I grabbed the bowl from her, and she began to cry. In my distraction, Odette in turn grabbed the bowl from me... that caused Earline to cry even louder...
Well, I could go on, but the point is made ... this is very very good dog food.

We have a toy Schnauzer who has very fussy eating habits. She loves this food, soft enough for her to chew, smells fresh and we also give it to her as treats.
