My Jasper (25lb Jack russell mix) has those "nudge the toy and the treats fall out" toys down, no problem. They're not even a challenge anymore. The pickle pocket, however, is a whole 'nother level of fun!

Keeping a smart, high-energy dog entertained is hard for me, so I have a lot of puzzle toys, but this is my favorite. I bought some Kong Stuff'n at the same time I bought the pickle pocket. It's easy to get the flavored goop deep into the grooves and it takes him a long time for him to get it out. Peanut butter or yugurt would probably work just as well.

If I want to mix it up, I take kibble or (better yet!) cat food and get it way down into the grooves. It's much harder for him to get the bits out. So much so that he occasionally gets discouraged, so I've learned to put a few bits closer to the opening so he doesn't give up.

This toy keeps him busy for 30-60 minutes at a go, which is IMPRESSIVE for a driven, brilliant terrier. Once he's emptied it, he brings it to me and I refill it so he can have another hour of entertainment. (and I can have some time to myself) SO glad I bought this!

My dog, Bandit, is 1.) a super strong chewer and 2.) too smart for the Kong.

Bandit was stumped and fascinated the first time he played with The Pickle. He know the drill with the Kong throw it, bounce it, treats come out. He tried playing with The Pickle the same way and was shocked when the treats didn't come out. I supervised him, seeing how he was problem solving to get the treats out. I used semi-soft Zuke's training treats for the first try. I don't know who was more excited, me or Bandit, when he figured how to get the treats out!!!! He is currently panting and very proud of his accomplishment.

I'm going to try treats with different textures and different challenge levels. AWESOME TOY!! LONG LIVE THE PICKLE!!!

This toy has held up very well so far in the 2 months we've had it and is tough enough that I don't worry about leaving our dog alone with it. We unfortunately still have to keep our young dog in the crate many times when we're out of the house because she gets destructive. Stuffing this toy with treats and leaving it in the crate with her is a great distraction and keeps her busy for hours, she hardly even notices that we were gone!

This is the same material as their green squishy treat ball which I also love; very flexible and totally resistant to any amount of "chewing" but pieces will come off if your dog is the type to grab a bit between the front teeth, hold it with the paws and "stretch/pull" on it. That said, since it's solid with deep, firm grooves rather than hollow with slits or holes, it will take a LOT more biting/pulling/stretching to get pieces off this one.

The grooves are great for peanut butter, etc and will keep a determined licker busy for a long time but the grooves are difficult to clean if the dog doesn't do it for you. :-)

I recommend this.

I bought 2 to begin with...I have three little dogs, including an italian greyhound/russell mix, and a larger 58 pound golden retriever mix and wasn't sure if the dogs would like them. The large dog can chew on this and get every little bit of treat out. The smaller dogs work on it for awhile. I put cheese, peanut butter, dog treats, you name it, in the openings. I like this better than a Kong because I had my dog get his lower jaw inside one once and so I am always a little leary of them now. The only dog who "likes" not "loves" the pickle is my short nosed dog. He has a hard time with kongs though, too. Anyway, I bought 2 more. I now have one for each dog. They are large, like a large kong, but my small dogs enjoy them! Also, I find these easier to clean than a kong.
