I've worked with exotic birds in zoos and we always fed them rainbow pellets to ensure a balanced diet, with fruit, vegetables, seeds and other add-ins as treats and for variety. So when I got my own cockatiel I went straight for this. It took us 3 weeks to ween him off the seed diet he was used to at the pet store. But it was worth it, and now I know he'll be healthy and live a long time. (As a kid, I had a cockatiel die of malnutrition since all he ate was the millet in his seed mix. Now I know better.)
This is a great price, about half of what the pet stores charge.
I HIGHLY recommend rainbow pelleted diets so your bird won't just eat what he likes, like the sweet, fatty millet which is basically junk food. We use a seed diet as a treat only. Our bird is a little picky and won't eat the green pellets, but that's a parrot for you. At least now he can be picky and I still know he's getting the nutrition he needs. (In fact, he eats the pellets in this order: red, purple, tan, yellow, blue...and won't touch the green, not even to throw them out of the dish, just eats around them!)

I have been buying this pellet for many years because my birds all absolutely love it! Every new bird I bring in ends up liking this pellet. They taste great wet and dry! You can give your bird a treat by putting some hot water into the dish, away from where your bird can reach, and let it cool, and let the pellets soak up the water. Then, while still warm, feed it to your bird. Also great for weaning birds, as you can wet it the way I described and hand feed it to them until they eat it themselves. Add less and less water, until they are eating it dry, and you have a bird weaned on healthy pellets!!Buy Kaytee Exact Rainbow Food for Cockatiels Now
I have used the Exact Rainbow food exclusively for my cockatiel since it was recommended by the birds breeder when I got him almost 20 years ago. My bird, Zac, gives it a four feather rating. It would be five feathers except for the green pellets, which he refuses to eat.Read Best Reviews of Kaytee Exact Rainbow Food for Cockatiels Here
The size of the food is a little big for my Cockatiel. I ended up feeding to my African Grey.My birds like it the most, I tried other products but this one seem to satisfy them the most. Would recommend it.
