We have 3 cats that use this product. After trying a couple of different brands that they wouldnt eat at all (some liquids, some paste), when we tried this they all loved it right away. They will eat from your finger as recommended (or even right from the tube as I am squeezing it!), usually I mix it with their morning wet canned food and they eat it up.

As far as effectiveness it is also the best I have seen. All 3 rarely get hairballs now (2 are longhaired Maine Coons), sometimes only once every few months. Without the paste they would get them usually every week, and the hairballs would be GIANT, about 3/4 the size of a hotdog!

It short this product works great, and all our picky cats love it. I highly recommend it, especially for longhaired cats.

First, let me say that I used to buy this product in the pet stores. However, the pet stores in my area have stopped carrying it. I was thrilled when I found it on Amazon some time ago.

The product works well and my cats LOVE LOVE LOVE it as long as it is the salmon flavor. They will not touch the chicken flavor. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with the chicken flavor: I'm sure other cats love it, but mine do not.

So, I would rate the product ITSELF as being worthy of five stars (regardless of flavor). My three star rating on this review is because of the problem I am encountering with Amazon sending me the correct flavor.

The product description doesn't say what flavor this item is. However, the ingredient list says it contains "Natural Fish Flavor (Salmon)." In the past when I've ordered it, I received the salmon flavor from Amazon.

This time, however, they sent the chicken flavor. I contacted Amazon and they were very quick to send another tube.

The second tube, which just came today, is also chicken flavor.

I find it annoying to have the same mistake made twice in a row. Like most people, I am busy and the necessity of contacting Amazon again and trying to get this straightened out involves time which is a precious commodity. Thus, the lower rating.

Just be aware that if you 'need' the salmon flavor, that might not be what you get when you order this product. If your cats don't care about the flavor then consider this a five star product! ;-)

Unlike other hairball treatments I've tried, it doesn't contain petroleum products and the cats love the flavor -they come running for it like a treat. And the best thing is that they no longer throw up hair balls all over the house!

Yes, this stuff does work well, especially with one of my cats who is prone to frequent hairballs. In the morning, after their breakfast, I put some on three fingers of one hand, and the three of them lap it up like they can't get enough.

The problem? PetSmart dropped Nutri-Vet for GNC products, and one cat simply walks away from it. The other two aren't enthusiastic about the "new" watery, drippy product. So, I'm ordering Nutri-Vet's Hairball Paw Gel from Amazon. My cats have spoken!

On 3/5/11, I left a one-star rating for this product (see review below), but now want to amend that. After sending an e-mail through their company website detailing my complaint , I not only received an e-mail from Chuck Francis, the President of the company, but also a phone call from Dr. Brown, the Sr. Vice President of Research/Development (who is a veterinarian).

They were both very apologetic and appreciative that this problem had been brought to their attention. Mr. Francis stated that his top priority at that point was figuring out what had happened and correcting the problem. Dr. Brown called later and explained what had happened. Nutri-Vet had switched manufacturers. (The formula is developed by Nutri-Vet, but they outsource the manufacturing of this product.) This is the way I understand it: The new manufacturer, although following the formula provided by Nutri-Vet, must have been using ingredients supplied by different vendors, which would account for the change in consistency (and possibly flavor).

They both assured me they are committed to resolving this issue and Dr. Brown stated that they are working with the new manufacturer to see that this product returns to the great consistency and flavor that it was originally. They promised to let me know as soon as this happens so that I can buy some more and make my cat, Leroy, happy once again.

Am now giving five stars based on the original salmon-flavored product, which Leroy went crazy over, and also based on this company's responsiveness and outstanding customer service.Original 1-star review of 3/5:

One of my cats (Leroy) was crazy about this product -it was the only thing he liked as a "treat." Pet stores in my area quit carrying it, so I ordered three tubes through Amazon. They were great -no problem. Leroy was happy. Then I ordered another three tubes through Amazon, and, even though the outside packaging was the same, the product itself was totally different. Different consistency -took two hands to force it out of the tube! Leroy licked at it two or three times, then turned his nose up at it, so apparently different taste also.

I then contacted the company through their website. They responded right away saying that it had been reformulated. The original formula had been salmon and they had switched to chicken flavor. However, they said that they had listened to their customers (all complaining) and had brought back the salmon flavor. With that, I went ahead and ordered another three tubes of salmon flavor through them (Nutri-Vet). Needless-to-say, Leroy was again disappointed. They neglected to tell me that it had still been reformulated so the consistency was very hard and it was almost impossible to get out of the tube. Once I got a little bit of it on my finger, Leroy again licked it once or twice and then gave up. I'm approximately $60 poorer and now trying to find something else that Leroy would like.
