Received the Cagey Cube yesterday, and I meant to save it for a holiday gift but my daughter's dog found the box and tried to liberate it, and I gave in.

This product comes complete with a tennis type ball in a small plastic net that is stuffed inside the cage. After clipping off the tags and unwrapping the ball, the games began. The Jack Russell Terrier figured out what the challenge was immediately, and pushed her whole face into the cube to remove the ball. Which she then shredded all over the floor.

The ball that comes with the cube is a little smaller than the real tennis balls that we have lying all over the house, and it wasn't very hard to get it in or out of the one slightly larger opening in the cube. To make it more of a challenge, I put the larger balls inside. That made it a little more challenging. The dog had a great time biting the cube, smashing it with her paws, flinging it across the room, and sticking her head inside. The rubber is soft enough that her face does not become trapped.

Even the larger mixed breed dog who is not as playful grabbed the cube and tried to get the ball out. Since he lacks the terrier's stubborn attitude, he gave up more quickly without removing the ball. So I put some racquetballs inside, which the dog prefers to fuzzy type balls, and since they are smaller he was able to reward himself by winning the game more quickly, which kept his interest.

The JRT likes to put her balls under things, in things, and behind things and then try to figure out how to free them, so this toy was an instant smash hit. She likes to create problems and then solve them. It's cute to see her pick up the cage in her teeth stuffed with tennis balls, and run around the house shaking her head and growling. A good time is had by all.

To recap, so far this has held up to our strong chewer, held the interest of the "clever" dog by making the puzzle more difficult and changing the combinations of things we stuff inside (stuffed animals were a big hit) and also piqued the interest of the less playful dog, when the puzzle was modified to give him a higher success rate.

Plus it doesn't smell bad or anything. A lot of rubbery toys reek. So far it seems safe, but like all dog toys I only let the dogs use them while we are watching. I imagine there is a possibility that a dog could insert its head in the stretchy opening and get stuck.

Great toy so far, if it gets ripped apart by the jaws of death too quickly, I will edit this review.

My two Labrador Retrievers love this toy! It was so much fun watching them work out the puzzle. I keep it out of reach between play sessions to keep it interesting and to keep them from munching on it when I'm not looking. So far, they haven't made any attempts to chew it. Although, I'm sure a determined chewer could make short work of this toy.

If you want to mentally stimulate your dog and have a fun time watching them work this is a great toy! Since they have pretty much 'solved' this toy now (they can get the ball out in under 30 seconds), I just bought the Kyjen Ball-in-Ball puzzle. They've had it for a few days and still haven't figured it out... it seems to be a bit more challenging. But, they love the challenge! I'm so glad I stumbled across Kyjen dog games I'm really happy with these two products!

Our cattle dog/rat terrier mix loved this toy. Although she gets the ball out rather quickly (5 minutes at most), she will then bring both pieces over to me and wait for me to stick the ball back in so she can do it again. Kept her busy for a half hour before she decided she was too tired and took a nap instead. Also loves to play fetch with the ball after she gets it out.

I have 2 pitbull terriers that are very smart and I was noticing that when it storms outside and we cannot get our usual exercise that they get mischievous because they are bored. My 3 year old female doesn't show any interest in this, which is what I kind of expected. However, my 1 1/2 year old male loves it! I was shocked at her quickly he figured it out. I had read the reviews where people were saying that their dogs love it and are still working to figure it out. It took him about 15 minutes the first time and now when I hand it to him he moves it around to where his nose goes in further than on the other sides and he shakes his head until the cube is thrown across the room and he has the tennis ball. So, now his game is throwing the cube across the room. He loves this toy even if he does not use it for its intended purpose. As long as he is having fun and not tearing my house up I am happy. :)

Is an interesting puzzle for puppy to play with, however, the cage was chewed off in a week's time.

Not recommended for tough chewers unless your dog is gentle. Mine is a small breed dog.
