I spent 3 years trying to find a squeaky toy that my retriever wouldn't destroy within hours of purchase. We have had the Kong Puppy Squeaker Toy for 4 months now and it is still intact and squeaking. For a 40 lb. dog I recommend the medium which is approximately 4" x 3" x 3". A great buy!

bummer.....the search of a toy that can last for my border collie mix continues.

You can still take the squeaker out and use as a regular kong though so not all bad :-)

Our Jack Russell female squeaks this constantly. Really, constantly. And it lasts for weeks. The squeaker never gives out, it's the rubber which starts to crack. This is a great toy.
