I am so lucky to have found Dermacept. My little 4 yr old Shitz Shu girl has had seasonal allergies since I got her at 2 yrs old. It got so bad her fur was falling out in patches and you can see the raw skin from all the scratching. Not to mention to see & feel the suffering she was going through. I believe in Holistic medicine for my family and it extends to my fur babies. After searching & finding Dermacept on the net, I followed the dosage recommendations and gave her 1 full tablet for first 5 days and then taper down to 1/2 tablet after that. Her symptoms were so severe that I kept her on full dosage for a month and slowly she got better. If you read the web site, they also tell you that it may take a month or more to see results. Holistic medicine or supplements are not like conventional meds, it is a gradual process because it is basically assisting your body to heal itself. Well, when I noticed that the scratching begin to slowly subside, I was so relieved and I have been using Dermacept ever since. What I have learned since then is that you can technically stop giving the supplement when you no longer see grass growing during the coldest winter months, but you must start giving your pet the supplement at least a month in advance before the anticipation of spring plants growing (I had to learn the hard way). This way it will save your little one a lot of unnecessary suffering. $35.00 for a 3 month supply (more if 1/2 dose) is a bargain especially if you compare it to vet bills and the really bad side effects of steroids. I now give Dermacept year round and will may even give it to my other pets as a maintenance vitamin since it is full of antioxidants.

Cosequin is great for dogs that are getting older. I have one dog with hip dysplasia and she doesn't limp around when I give her this stuff. Another one of my dogs started to limp around but again taking this stuff helps. You can get it from your vet but it doesn't come in cute dog bone shapes! Plus they are chewable! Very convenient!

This is a relatively inexpensive product that is extremely good for young and old dogs hips and joints. I know of a rather famous wildlife manager that special ordered a similar product for his dog. This version is as good, but considerably less expensive. The product is liver flavored, so I say the all important word to our eleven month old pup in the morning, "snack" the tail wag increases rapidly and he goes to his bowl and gets the snack and his firest feeding. I highly recommend this product.

We have a 15-year-old collie-sized dog who was having problems getting up, and we started to see positive results in about a week. He thinks he is getting a "treat", so there is no problem getting him to take the supplement. I was quite impressed with the results in our dog.

This stuff works wonders for my baby girl! She has hip displasia and ever since we started giving her these, she doesn't have as much limping and pain as she did before. It really helps.

My Chihuahua has bad knees and had a hard time getting around. I started giving her these pills about three years ago and what a difference! She still limps a little but can now run around when we take our other dog to an open field to run. She gets half a pill a day and since she won't eat it like a treat, I crush it up and add it to her food every morning.

I have a Mastiff/Lab dog who is the fussiest eater ever...and he has Mastiff skin issues which require a grain free diet. I add salmon oil to his food, which he likes, but will often just sniff and walk away. Our local dog trainer had samples of this product and suggested I try it. It works like a charm. I mix it up in the mornings, and my dog and both cats go wild with excitement at the smell, and the dog wolfs down his food as if it's the best thing ever.... BUY IT.

Reading up on this company I'm blown away by the care and knowledge that goes into this food. I can't even know if I'm getting gentically modified food or other junk when I go eat lunch today but here there is an approach to pet food I hope I can enjoy one day as a human. I would trust anything this company puts on the market! I hope this level on integrity catches on with other companies.

One of my cats is old (17) and frail and very thinshe likes to eat mostly just gravy now. I use this now to add to the canned food. She likes it well enough. My 8 yr old won't have anything to do with this product. My two young ones will eat it but aren't crazy about it. I am just happy that my old gal likes itit is probably keeping her alive.!

Don't bother try any others. This one is tops! My dog doesn't gobble it up in 30 seconds nor lose interest in it after 5 minutes because it loses taste. Busy chews last about five to ten minutes of total enjoyment! Only wish I could get the bigger 9 oz boxes and find them at grocery store. There are about 15 chews in each of this size box.

We used to buy these at our grocery store for our dogs, but since we moved, we can't find them anywhere. So, we're lucky that we can order them and have them delivered. The dogs always seem to know when I knew shipment arrives.

Prior purchases were darker and had a lot more flavor. My two Shih Tzu's just chewed on them for hours. This purchase was bland and had no flavor. Appears manufacturer was saving money by providing less color and flavor. The final test was when the dogs looked, smelled and walked away. Opened several more but the test was the same.

We have tried several different "chewables" for our dog, and we have found that she either eats them too quickly, or loses interest (as another reviewer mentioned). We tried her ont he Purina Chewnola, but she just started chewing off the granola layer and then hiding the rawhide part under furniture!

With the heartyhides, she has YET to not finish one in a sitting, and will happily trot off with one in her mouth to work on for 10 minutes or so. Such a great treat to keep her busy, and it's basted in chicken flavor so that tail keeps wagging!

Definitely recommended!

I am not sure where the previous reviewer got their information, but if you do actual research, on actual websites (some you have to subscribe to), Nature's Variety is a 5 star dog food INCLUDING the Instinct treats. This is why I feed NV food and treats to my purebread dog and cat. I would much rather feed my pet human grade food that is made as nature intended animals to eat...it's worth every extra penny I spend.

Here is an excerpt from Petsumerreport.com, which is one of the websites that gave this treat 5 stars: "Plus: The Nature's Variety representative told me the ingredients are human quality/grade. This food contains friendly bacteria (benefits the intestinal system and in turn the immune system of the pet); included in Guaranteed Analysis (company guarantees viable bacteria). Minus: Contains Garlic controversial ingredient."

While they did mention the use of garlic, the product was still rated 5 stars, and my dog has NEVER gotten sick off these biscuits (I only give him NV biscuits). They smell like actual food and have a nice consistency not "cardboard" like some pet treats made of ingredients you don't even recognize. You can easily break each treat into 3-4 pieces if using for training purposes.

I feel the product should actually be used by the reviewer in order to make a credible review of the product. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT AND ALL NATURE'S VARIETY PRODUCTS, based on ACTUAL use!!!!! Give them a try, your dog will thank you :-)

I love these treats, everything about them is good. The ingredients are fantastic, not too expensive, (although not exactly cheap), they're easy to split up but don't end up all crumbled at the end of the box. they even *smell* good! and my dog loves them. 11 oz is a good size.

I've tried 3 of the 4 flavors, far as I can tell he likes them all equally.

oh, and the reviewer below giving a warning, they are incorrect, garlic is toxic in concentrated amounts, not in a daily treat at the bottom of the ingredient list. If you fed enough of these treats for the garlic to be an issue, garlic would be the least of your problems. lol.

Dog Tag Art shipped ahead of the promised date and got the ID info correct on multiple tags in the same order. Everyone who sees the dog tags gets quite a giggle over the messages because were chosen to match my pups' personalities. The tags are very nicely made and seem quite durable. i have been using total-biotics and it's companion product, total-zymes by NCW Naturals for about six months. the results i got for my large 13 year old dog were evident within weeks, though. to keep this short, my aging dog was really suffering from the whole range of digestive problems, as well as joint and hip pain, and bad skin. these products have helped to make his golden years more enjoyable for both me and my canine best friend. i sincerely recommend them, especially when used together. additionally, the owner of the company has made himself available to answer my queries on numerous occasions with relevant information and a kind concern for my four legged buddy. thank for working so hard to make these products available! two thumbs way up on these.

I have tried all Probiotics for our German Shepherds...all have stomach issues to some extent or another. I've tried them ALL...seriously. The one I liked the most, but too expensive, was the Iams prostora...I was getting it at COST from my vet, and still, too $$$$$$$. I then tried Purina FortiFlora...did not care for it at all. When I bought the Total Biotics Enzyme powder, I saw it came with the Total Biotics, so I figured "why not," and gave it a try. I have to say this product has eliminated gas in my 3 y/o german shepherd, and has helped his bowels. You don't need TOO much...what is suggested in just about right, but don't give too much. I had a MUCH better outcome with the product OVER Primal Defense (which has oat and barley grasses...not good for our dogs), and I was thoroughly surprised that it was better than the prostora. Great product, I will not use anything else, EVER. My female also responds well to it also, and she has issues with her bowels. Very pleased.

Our cats have CRF (renal failure). I have read several veterinary articles discussing the potential for the gut assisting the kidneys with removal of wastes from the bloodstream when the kidneys are not working well, as with CRF. For this to happen, the flora of the gut needs to be "tip top" and nothing is better than this probiotic product with 14 different kinds of good bacteria, a pre-biotic to feed the gut bacteria, PLUS a delivery system to ensure that the good stuff gets to the right place. The stomach contains hydrochloric acid that is important for digesting food. It could also destroy the good bacteria before it gets to the intestional tract. These people have added a "delivery system" to ensure the good bacteria gets where it needs to go. This addition "LEADS" (Live enzyme activated delivery system) includes the enzymes Amylase (to break down starches), LIpase (to break down fats), and cellulase (to bread down cellulose, plant fiber).

There are two billion CFU's (colony forming units) per scoop (included). These strains of good bacteria are all human grade. The suggested amount to give is 1 scoop per cup of food. With renal failure, two scoops, according to my holistic vet. It is especially important to give probiotics when pets (and people!) are receiving antibiotics, as this will help to balance and normalize the gut flora and keep the good guys in the majority. Since pets with renal failure tend to get more urinary tract infections than more healthy pets, they may be taking antibiotics more frequently and therefore it is especially important to keep them on this product. The product will keep at room temperature. Mine came with a year exp, date. If refrigerated, add 6 months and if kept in the freezer, add one year to the exp. date. This company makes a wonderful line of people products too.

Till pill pockets were invented, you we lucky if you were able to open your pet's mouth, push a pill down it's throat, pick it up repeatedly from the floor after it kept spitting it out and, finally, after getting it to swallow it, come away without being bitten in the process. All that is now.........a thing of the past! Just pop a pill, or half a pill, whatever the dose is, into a pill pocket, and pinch the end closed. Dogs and cats don't really chew their food, so all they do is pick it up into their mouth and swallow! And there are different flavors, and sizes just right for kittens, cats, puppies and dogs! Even extra large ones for extra large pills!

Medicate your pe? What could be simpler?

Based on my experience with our six cats, I can't imagine any cat not devouring these. We have a cat with hyperthyroidism who needs a pill twice a day. Two of our other cats routinely run over when its pill time to see if I'll give them a tiny piece of the pill pocket, and the other three non-medicated cats would readily gobble these up too if I let them. Not to mention the cat who is supposed to be getting them. She's normally a whiner (unusual in cats) but loves these and readily takes them twice a day. Before now, we've had cats for many years and periodically had to give one of them pills; this is by far the easiest method I've run across. Good thing if one has have to give a cat pills as frequently as twice every day, indefinitely.

Want Pill Pockets for Kittens CHICKEN 1.6 oz (45 pockets) Discount?

Two of my three cats turned up their noses at this flavor of pill pockets. I used them to conceal tapeworm pill halves and was careful not to have medicine residue on my hands when I sealed them up. One of my cats gobbled them down greedily, no problem. My two other cats decided to give me grief about them and I ended up having to get the pills down them another way. I love the idea for this product but it's impossible to tell if your cat will go for them until you try them out.

This is a very cute dog jacket. Our 18# Shih Tzu wears it when it's cold. I didn't downgrade rating for the one issue that we have with the hood. Our dog's head is "in front" of his body, so the hood doesn't really fit on his head. The construction is better suited for a dog who's head is "on top of" it's body.
