I have a 4.5 month old Maltese. She is still being trained and she sticks to me all the time, until I gave her this ball with a super tasty treat inside. I used this http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0057TWZ2K to put inside, first gave her a taste through the gap while squeezing it flat, then she went absolutely nuts trying to get it out. Took her a good 20 min or so, trying every trick she could come up with, but eventually got it out somehow and had a good snack.
This is easy for her to pick up with her tiny mouth. The ball got squished a little but I don't see any teeth marks yet after a few long frenetic sessions so it seems to be quite durable.
