Can't say it feels good to write this.
We first ordered this product about 2 months ago and the first box of 20 bones lasted us that long because it was very densely packed rawhide. Each bone lasted approximately 2-2.5 hours of constant chewing. Needless to say we liked the product and reordered it. Unfortunately the the new box is completely different from the first!
First of all, the bones in the second batch have a pinkish/brownish hue to them as if they're coated with something for flavor. Instead of a densely wrapped single layer of rawhide, the second batch has ball-shaped pieces of rawhide wrapped by a single layer of rawhide (imagine peas in a pea pod). The bones are very light in comparison to the previous batch and my dog literally goes through them in 15 minutes!! He threw up the "ball" parts one night and his stool became much softer since we gave him the new bones.
I'm going to try and return the new box to Amazon and reorder to see if maybe there was a mixup. I'll update my review accordingly.

April 2011 update:
Well, Amazon was great and I was more than impressed with the service... they instantly shipped me a new box! The box we received had the same types of bones as we received in the second shipment which we weren't happy with. So unfortunately we'll have to find a different source for rawhide bones. By the way, since dogs are sensitive to changes in their diet, I decided to experiment and let our dog have these new bones and see if he'll get used to them with time. Several weeks have gone by and he still has softer stool when we give him the bones, he also has diarrhea because of them once in a while. When we don't give him the bones his stool is a better color and is nice and firm. Sorry, didn't mean to get too graphic, just trying to give as many details as I can.

I've bought other products, like Macho Stix, and my Bernese Mountain Dog--young, slightly hyper-active and a very aggressive chewer--makes short work of them. Even a "long" macho stick would only last him about 15 minutes. Alas, he's completely indifferent to all plastic bones, sterilized cooked bones, and other substitutes for rawhide.A single Green Cow bone lasts him about a hour and half. Great entertainment and mental exercise--when he's done, he plops down very contentedly for a nice long rest, all hyper-activity expended. He's in no danger of choking because there are no "knots" on the end that he can swallow whole. (We watched him very carefully the first 10 times we gave him one, but he chews the pieces up very carefully and slowly).
He ADORES these bones! He gets three a week and we make the most of them--makes him very motivated when we do obedience training, for he'll jump through hoops to get one of these! Highly recommend.

These are the best-built retriever rolls we've seen in years. They appear to be constructed all in one piece and are densely constructed. We have an 80-pound dog and a 105-pound dog, both avid chewers. The smaller dog will get only a few inches into one of these in a day -she'll chew, nap, chew, look out the window, chew ... and the bigger dog, who is more food-motivated, will have one of these last him at least a day. If there is one criticism -I wonder if the rawhide isn't a bit too thick, even for our large dogs. Time will tell.Read Best Reviews of Green Cow Dog Bones, 8" to 10" Natural Retriever, 20-Count Box Here
I will start off by saying that I had this product on subscribe and save for a year before the shipment in April 2013 that made my dogs sick. Until the shipment in question, the bones were consistently as described, my dogs loved them, and they were a reasonable price. I have two big dogs that need something to chew every night, so these bones were a perfect solution. However, I received the last shipment in April 2013, and I noticed that the bones were shorter than the previous shipments. I just thought to myself that Rush Direct must have found a new supplier and didn't think twice about giving my loving boys these bones, as they had had no previous reactions to them.
This is gonna get a little graphic, excuse me for a moment. The next day, they both had explosive diarrhea, and I mean explosive. I work all day, a dog walker comes in the afternoon every other day, and unfortunately, this was not the day. I came home to diarrhea ALL over my home. I had to throw away several throw rugs, and wash everything as well as their beds. The poor guys were so ill! It went on like this for three days until I brought them to the vet. (I waited three days because I thought it would pass, when it hadn't by the next evening even after the dog walker had come in the afternoon, I knew something was seriously wrong and made the appointment for the next day.) The vet told me that based on their fecal exams they had a bacteria in their intestines. I was stumped as to what could have caused this because I hadn't introduced anything new into their diets.
One of them responded to the meds right away and stopped having diarrhea but his stool was still soft. The other one, unfortunately did not respond, and while he could control himself in the house, continued to have intestinal issues and diarrhea for two weeks. After medication and exam fees, I had spent $380 over this time period. I knew I had to start looking at their diets. I feed them Fromm's GOLD Senior dog food and there were not any product recalls published. It had to be the bones, then I remembered that this shipment was a different size. I stopped giving them both the bones, and continued with his medication and finally, after nearly a month the poor guy has regular poop, and the other's is nice and firm.
I don't expect Rush Direct to pay me the $380 in expenses I incurred as a result of their defective product, but I do expect ANY VENDOR of pet goods to be transparent about where they get their products and to ensure the quality of those products. I have sent two complaints to Amazon about this issue and they've responded by refunding me and giving me a great customer experience, but I have not heard word one from the vendor. Not even an apology. I will never buy anything from Rush Direct again and am currently looking for a new bulk bone supplier if anyone has any suggestions!

First batch were great.Second batch reeked of bleach. Told amazon, no return available so stuck with a bad box. This one batch made me wonder how bad the quality control is for these Green Cow products. Decided not to take a chance again. Have never had these issues with the Chunky Chews brand.
